چکیده

background: preeclampsia is a disorder unique to pregnancy and has long been recognized as an important contributor of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. it is suggested that cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (tnf-α) have an important role in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia and may cause generalized endothelial dysfunction. objective: the aim of this study was comparison of maternal serum tnf-α in severe and mild preeclampsia versus normal pregnancy. materials and methods: this study was performed on 37 women with preeclampsia (17 mild and 20 severe preeclampsia) and 41 normotensive pregnant women with similar gestational age at third trimester of pregnancy. all the preeclamptic cases had blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mmhg and proteinuria ≥ 300 mg in a 24-h urine sample. maternal serum tnf-α concentration was compared in all of them. results: the level of tnf-α concentration was not statistically different between the studied groups. no significant correlation was found between preeclampsia and control group as they were compared in the view of maternal serum tnf-α concentration. conclusion: these findings suggest that serum tnf-α is not significantly associated with preeclampsia.

Maternal Serum Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha in Patients with Missed

521 Abstract Background: TNF-α is one of the cytokines produced by the immune system. Many studies have been done to investigate the role of the immune system in first trimester pregnancy loss. Objective: To evaluate the association of TNF-α with recurrent and missed miscarriage. Method: a case-control study involved 35 women, 15 with recurrent miscarriage (at least three consecutive spontaneo...

Serum Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-Α) Levels after Anti-Tuberculous Therapy

The monocyte/macrophage-derived cytokine, Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-α) plays a central role in effective granulomatous immunity to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infections in humans. The present study was conducted to document changes in the serum TNF-α level of patients after varying durations of anti-tuberculous therapy as compared to normal healthy controls. A comparative study was condu...

tumor necrosis factor-alpha polymorphism at position -238 in preeclampsia

conclusion: in this study group, tnf-α -238 polymorphism was shown to be different in preeclamptic and non-preeclamptic pregnant women. the aa genotype and the a allele may carry an increased risk for developing of preeclampsia. results: there were significant differences between the two groups in tnf-α genotype at position -238 (p < 0.001). in the preeclamptic group, the frequency of the aa ge...

Evaluation of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Polymorphism Frequencies in Endometriosis

Background The pro-inflammatory cytokine, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), is a pathogenic element for a number of disorders. Previous studies have reported that the -1031 T/C and -238 G/A polymorphisms in the promoter region of the TNF-α gene are important factors in reproductive-related disorders. One of the most common gynecological diseases of women during the reproductive years is endo...

TUMOR NECROSIS FACTOR ALPHA (TNF-a)

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF, TNFSF2) is an important multifunctional cytokine that regulates inflammation, host defense, immune responses, and apoptosis. TNF exists as a membrane-bound 26kDa, type II integral membrane protein, and a 17kDa soluble homotrimeric TNF that is generated via proteolytic cleavage by TNF-a converting enzyme (TACE, ADAM17). Both the membrane-bound and soluble forms ...
